A deposit must be made in order to hold a puppy.  The deposit is made after we have discussed what you are interested in and if we feel there is going to be a puppy available that will meet your needs in the near future.  Southwinds usually only breeds one or two litters a year. 

Many times litters aren't advertised because the anticipated number of puppies are already spoken for before they are born.  In the event there is an extra puppy available, there is usually a waiting list for our puppies and the first prospective buyer on the list (who has sent a deposit) will have the option of the available puppy.  That is the reason that when you decide you would like a puppy from Southwinds, and we have agreed, the sooner a deposit is sent, the better.  We are often talking to several people at once and there are a limited number of puppies available.

Deposits are non-refundable.  The only exception to this rule is when the puppy you have asked for (usually sex or temperment) is not available.  We will not guarentee the color or markings of a puppy, except in the case of a show prospect.  Deposits may be made through PayPal, check or money order. 

Final payment must be made before your new dog or puppy can be delivered.  Payment may be made through PayPal, check or money order.  All must clear before delivery of your new puppy/dog.  We also accept good, old fashioned cash if you are going to pick up your new friend in person. 

A copy of a contract for a companion dog is available on the "Links" page of this website.  Contracts for working dogs or show prospects are very individual and based on the needs of the new owners.  Please contact us for specific information. 

A buyer may arrange for transportation themselves, but must discuss it with us.  There are certain restrictions that will have to be met. 

Dogs can't be transported by air when the temperature is above 85 degrees at any stop along the way, including the destination.  Most airlines will not ship from our area after mid to late May.  Please take that into consideration.  Also, the larger a dog is, the more it will cost to have the dog transported.

All transportation costs, including crate and airfare are paid for by the buyer.  These costs must be paid in full, along with full payment for the puppy/dog, before the date of shipment.
